It's common knowledge (I believe) that the price of oil is based on "futures." That is where investors decide where they THINK oil prices should be- Correct me if I'm wrong.

With that in mind, and the fact that oil prices elsewhere in the world aren't as high, (Yes, I know SOME are higher) doesn't the US, as a world power and whose economy the rest of the world used to like to base theirs on, realize that it's only best to keep prices low so that it's people may become more prosperous?

On top of THAT, the Saudis (The people the left are convinced are having their prices regulated by the Bush gas price lever located on the oval office desk) are offering to not only set everyone straight on what gas prices SHOULD be AS WELL AS offer people more oil so the prices can get back to normal...

Now, with all that in mind, why don't we drill for oil here in the US, places like ANWR, North and South Dakota and Montana? This would give US the upper hand on oil and be able to tell Venezuela and Iran where they can go with their threats against us.

To answer your question oil is based on futures.
Other contries like the leverage with their oil. Greed over proserity?
We should be drilling more in the GOM, off of Virgina, ANWR, and California. We need to put more leverage on the tree huggers to let them build more refineries. We have the oil, but our refinery capacity is at it's max.

Why do people keep blaming President Bush ? I thought the new congress and all of those pontificating senators were going to get things going in the right direction ? I have yet to see anything done, except spending all their time trying to win an election. I donot care if their republican or democrat, they were hired to do a job. If they cannot get the job done they need to quit and be replaced by someone who will look out for us.

The percentage of oil we get from Iran is not the focal point of my statement. The fact that Iran and Venezuela have threatened oil supply cut-offs to the US is. Recently, OPEC threatened our share of oil if we attacked Iran over its nuclear programs which is almost the same thing as getting our oil from Iran itself. They stick together when all we're trying to do is keep a radical middle eastern nation from attaining nuclear weapons. Someone's got to do it. Might as well be the toughest kid on the block.

Curious- Can you quote me exactly what percentages of Iran's oil and natural gas go to which country or were you just posting just to post?

no i can't quote it..but then i can google a little..and as you can see from this article..chavez and iran mean nothing to u.s. oil imports..and to answer your bottom line leo, i was simply asking..but i see you hold yourself as an authority so, i defer, lest you pop a vessel..
