The old home place here in Mount Vernon is tilled again. We are late this year, that's what I hear from the so called experts around here, about us being late-- "Ought to have had it planted on Good Friday". The fact is we got it done when we could and yes, we ought to have put it in under a full moon as opposed to the new moon, but it is in. Better late than likr the last three years when we didn't have a garden, or any fresh veggies. This year, our garden will be known as Cecil's garden. Our little six year old was there with us this year and he planted. Without Cecil, the work would not have been as much fun, in fact the work would not have been any fun without Cecil, the work would have just been work. Six rows so far, three silver queen corn, two purple hull pea rows and a row with egg plant, tomatoe and peppers. We are well on our way. We have room for ten or eleven more rows and we do plan on opening them all this summer and having as much fresh food as we can grow.
I got a letter from the AIDT today. AIDT will be doing screening of applicants for the ThyssenKrupp steel mill that's going in up the road. Five miles from the house. Wouldn't it be nice. I want to drive one of those big slab haulers. Or work in the office, or in security, or change light bulbs. I know that this is just a first step, but I do pray that with this first step, it will lead to a good job. I am willing to work, all I need is the opportunity. Thank you Lord for hearing my prayer. Another blessing to be counted.
